Notes :
During 1996 a Fraser/Evans “test issue” $100 note was printed with a prefix of BX96. This note is unusual in that the areas that are normally printed in black ink have been printed in a blue ink similar to that used on the $10 note. Enquiries regarding this note with the relevant authorities at the Reserve Bank have revealed that the error is genuine and not the result of dye as the other colours on the note appear as normal. However, they would not reveal the reason behind the printing of this mysterious ‘blue’ $100 note. Due to the nature of banknote printing, there must be at least another 31 notes in circulation.
Test Notes were issued in the sequence of AN to AZ, BN to BZ and CN to CS.
General circulation notes had their serial numbers ending in “M” – AA to AM, BA to BM with the sequence continuing through the range of letters.
There were no $100 notes printed in 1992, 1993, 1994 or 1995
